My First Poem

An Ode to Self He had trouble expressing his deepest emotion, To the ones he called his friends and family. He moved ahead in life in a carefree motion, Ensuring that his face was like a smiley. He had trouble accepting his flaws, And had assumed the answers to everything. He stayed aloof with his long claws, With a sense of optimism that was compelling. His life was a complete paradox, As he loved and hated everybody. While he wanted to be isolated in a box, He also wanted to be loved by somebody. His friends said that he had the heart of a child, And all he wanted was to spread some joy. He thought that he was one of a kind and ran wild, Only to realize that, in this world, he was just a toy. He lived his entire life in the past, Even though he believed that he lived in the moment. As everything around him started moving fast, He knew that he was nothing but a disappointment. Over time things changed and he became vulnerable, A...

The Moments that change you…

Image
There are certain moments that human beings encounter that change their entire life. While some encounter love, others encounter death. Unfortunately, the moment that completely changed my life falls in the latter category.       I was 15 years old when my life completely changed. Before we get to what happened, it’s best if you get to know me a little better. I come from a middle-class family which included my mom, dad, brother, and myself. Like many middle-class families, my dad was the breadwinner of the family and my mom was the housewife. My brother was 5-years older (too cool for a little kid like me) and my dad was almost always tired after work, I invariably spent most of my time hanging out with my mom. The first time mom and I ever saw a movie together was back in January 2011 (don’t even bother asking what the movie was, it was super lame) as my dad was in France for a business tour and my brother was in a hostel for his college.  ...

Little Things The Universe Grants You

Image
“When you want something, the whole universe conspires to make it happen. And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it”  - Paulo Coelho “What you seek is seeking you”  - Rumi           Any person even remotely interested in understanding ‘The Universe’ would have come across these quotes. I was myself no stranger to these quotations (and a whole lot more) when I started my quest for clarity on this mystery called ‘The Universe’. Though I never believed in anything, I was always a curious person. All of my friends who strongly believe in ‘The Universe’ said that only if I experienced the feeling, would I understand the mystery. After experiencing that mystery, I now believe that if you ask for something, the universe will grant you that wish. I don’t mean to preach anything, but I would like to share a few incidents from my life that makes me believe in “The Power of The Universe”. There are three ...

An Extrovert's Paranoia Over This Pandemia

All my life I’ve been told that I am an extrovert. Everytime my friends would say that I have all the traits of an extrovert, I would deny it. Well, I guess it took me a pandemic to understand my need for human connection! Now, I don’t know how you guys view an extrovert but, let me tell you to my best understanding-anyone whom you can/could classify as an extrovert. For starters, anybody who’s in desperate need of human connection at this time around, would definitely be classified as an extrovert. I know, that’s just generalizing but, let me help you understand this by explaining how I’ve personally been dealing with the whole pandemic. A normal day for me would be getting up, taking a dump, brushing my teeth and going outside for a cup of chai (recent love for Irani chai) and breakfast. As I had my chai and breakfast (mostly with my flatmate), we would have fun random conversations, look at other people and sometimes even get into some serious ...
